Welcome to the website of the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) !

In 2005 the ERI celebrated its first five years of activity. Over these years the research, academic and commercial portfolios of the Institute have grown and diversified substantially. We now look to the next five years with fresh optimism, aspiration and ambition. Our mission for these years is the progressive development of a vibrant and dynamic centre of research expertise that addresses contemporary regional, national & international environmental issues through innovation and excellence.

Fundamental to the delivery of our mission is the formation effective working partnerships with key academic, stakeholder, commercial and policy-making organisations. The ERI currently works with partners throughout Scotland, the UK Europe and as far afield as the USA and China. In the coming years we look forward to strengthening these collaborations and to establishing new and exciting partnerships.

It also a key goal for the ERI to work with our Academic Partners in contribution to the UHI Millennium Institute achieving full University status. We hope to achieve this target of creating the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2007.
