About
why I came:
I had to do a trainee in an English speaking country for my formation
about engineer ing industrial techniques.
I get contact with the ERI thank to a member of my family working at ERI
( PhD: Julie Graham)
My teacher and my family also helped me with my visit.
My training was not funded but I kept my paid of apprentice during this
time, and a small help from my school.
By visiting Thurso I hoped to improve my English, and to see a new way
of work and a new social culture.
About
my project & working at the ERI:
My project was titled:
- Removal
heavy metal from waste water.
Emma Cochrane was my supervisor and she is studying for her PhD.
I was given plenty help with my work.
The working environment of the ERI is very relaxed compared to my company.
It was very easy to speak with everybody in the ERI. It’s one of
the best points of the ERI. There was a family environment.
About
living in Caithness:
The activities in Caithness are very good and the people are
very nice. I travelled a lot (Orkney, Skye, north coast…) The country
is very nice.
Life sharing a flat with others is very interesting and you learn a lot
of things from the different nationalities of the people in the ERI.
About
the future:
After my visit I carry on my studies in industrial techniques.
Now I have more understanding about the environmental problem in the industries.
The
science is interesting but the research is not for me: too much reading
and not enough action. (I had just 3 months experience, so my mind may
not be really good about this matter). But this domain is essential for
the development of the world.
The
way of life in Scotland is good. Why not work in Thurso between May and
September.
