' Streams as Pathways for Carbon Flow in the Terrestrial Environment '
Dr. Mike Billet

Department of Plant & Soil Science
University of Aberdeen

Streams are an important pathway for the transport of carbon in soluble, particulate and gaseous forms from soils to the ocean.
In his talk Dr.Billet will examine the relationships betweencatchment soil carbon pools and riverine fluxes at a range of scales. The magnitude of the flux is compared to carbon exchange between the land surface and the atmosphere and the role of the rivers in regulating carbon sequestration by soils.
