A Natural ‘Chain Gang’?
Dr. John Allen

Environmental Research Institute

Like most plants, marine algae have adapted to exploit their environment through a process of natural genetic selection. Some marine algae thrive by mining nutrients from beneath the photic zone where the dynamic convolutions of an ocean front brings deeper waters close to the surface. In this seminar, John Allen will present an overview to this subject and explore how biological processes may underpin enhanced carbon sequestration in frontal regions of the N. Atlantic.
